Unstable RX 580

My friends xfx Rx 580 is currently quite unstable during gaming and has been from new, I have done plenty of overclocks using MSI afterburner but never a underclock (if that's the word)

I have recently changed the power limit to -10, and it seems to run alot more stable with no crashes.

Is it safe to leave it like this for a prolonged period of time?

Any help would great!
