Keyboard Discussion.

So it's Christmas in about a months time, and it is nearing to Black Friday at the end of this month. I am in the heat of deciding which keyboard to get. I have a couple in mind, and they are the Razer Hunstman Elite and the Blackwidow Elite.

Now i dont really use macro keys and media keys, but this may change considering on both of these keyboards having them (not macros). The main thing i am concerned about is getting the correct switches. I would apperciate all the coments on which keyboard to get, and the pros and cons of both, Please help!

 

And if there is any other keyboards to recommend i would apperciate it!

well... to explain some basics

 

you have 3 types of switches: linear, tactile and clicky

 

linear is straight down

 

tactile is down with a feelable bump in between

 

clicky is like a tactile, but makes a notable "click"

 

in razer's case that's

yellow=linear

orange=tactile

green=clicky

 

but at the money you're spending, you could also get something a bit custom with hotswap, so you can use a wide range of mx switches from companies like gateron, kailh, zealpc and many more

No one can tell you what switch you will like. Get a switch sample pack Novelkeys and decide for yourself.

Out of the two, the Huntsman Elite would be my pick as it uses optical switches which on paper seem to have a tangible impact to gaming as well as lifespan. Choosing the Blackwidow Elite is no different to choosing other keyboard offerings from companies like Logitech, Corsair, or SteelSeries whom use the same scratchy, generic Cherry switches.

Nobody can tell you what switches are for you, that is something you will need to decide for yourself as switchfeel is highly preferencial.

 

I know the Huntsman Elite comes in linear and clicky for sure, so depending on your previous experiences with clicky and linear switches, and if you do go for a Huntsman Elite, you'll have an idea of what the typing experience is like already.
