Hypervisor type 2 with automatic vm boot

I was able to get a free year subscription to VMware Workstation 8 through my college. What I liked about it was the Autostart vm feature, which I use to control my freeNAS box to automatically boot when ever I turn on my computer.

 

Is there any other type 2 hypervisor that has an autostart feature? I was looking at virtualbox since it was free but have not seen anything that suggest that there is an autostart feature for VMs.

 

Ideally would like to stick with a type 2 hypervisor however if you are convincing as to why I should switch to a type 1 hypervisor, I might change my mind.
