Bluetooth Connecting To Phone? (Paired)

I just bought this at Amazon.com:

And i installed it in my car via a usb power from car ignition (cleverly i might add) so that I will auto connect to my phone whenever I turn the ignition on. (Wired through the stereo 12v to 5v usb to micro usb)

And the aux goes to my aux cable, cooler yet.

BUT: I have to turn on my phone's screen for it to connect to bluetooth on my phone. My phone is visible to bluetooth devices that it is paired with.

Only when the screen is turned on does it actually connect and start playing however.

 

So, my phone is an HTC One from AT&T, is there a setting to change this? Can I change it via root? Anyway I could fix this, because it is really annoying having bought this to have to take out my phone and turn on the screen for it to work.
