I have a spare computer. All I did was take out the hard drive to clone my main PC's OS and put it back in. I have done this before without problems. Now, when I plug it back in and try turning it on, absolutely nothing happens. The green power light on the power supply lights up when it's plugged in, but that's it. I tried shorting the power button jumpers on the motherboard, powering it on without the gpu, and I tried using a different power supply, but with no success. Did my motherboard just die? It is an old pc... but it was working just fine before I swapped the hdd.

The pc in question is a Dell Studio 540s. Intel Q8200, Radeon HD 7570, 4 gigs of DDR2 ram, 1tb hard drive, motherboard model: M017G

Should I try clearing the CMOS?

Check your memory, CPU, GPU and connections are correct and seated properly before restarting. Try a reset by clearing the CMOS or booting with a different drive.

Also proprietor OEM manufactures also have hardware that when swapped won’t allow boot up. Consider recent changes which may affect this.
