Team Green

Cre8 Modding

The past few weeks have been amazing for Mod 83, first our Ghostbusters build featured at EGX on the ASUS stand and then I won the EVGA Gear Up contest meaning that we can bring another build to the community! We have only been putting builds together since the turn of the year so I really appreciate everyone who has supported me so far and I want to thank you all for the kind words and feedback on our projects.

So here we are, an EVGA build that will be themed around the RTX series of graphics cards from Nvidia. This project will use the EVGA Supernova 1000 G+ Power Supply, EVGA DG-77 chassis, EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 XC Ultra Gaming and X299 Micro motherboard with other parts to be confirmed along the way.

We are fortunate enough to have CNC capability in house and so I will be producing custom parts for this build with a black, chrome and green clolour scheme.

For now, the 2070 and PSU have arrived, Il be sure to post updates as more parts come in and progress is made. My photo studio should be with me by the end of the week so more photo goodness will be on the way too.

  • 4 weeks later...

We have multiple projects on the go at the moment and are now waiting on parts for a couple of them. Since we are waiting to crack on with Pure Pastel, now is a good time to delve into Team Green a little more.

We are still planning custom panels but can share some of the concept work I have been doing in Vectric for our CNC. Given the lack of ventilation, I want to add a new front and back panel.

The front will allow for more airflow and with the internal mods I have in mind, the back panel will allow hot air out with the view of mounting a radiator next to the motherboard vertically.

I might also replace the top but I will see how it looks once it starts coming together. These are not final designs yet and there are plenty of options on this so I would love to hear what you think.

I am also undecided on the logos, looking to backlight these in keeping with the theme. I also have the PSU basement to mod the opening with the existing EVGA logo.

More good news for this project is that Intel has kindly sent over one of their i9-9960X chips to pair with the X299 Micro and Seagate will be supplying 2x 10Tb IronWolf Pro drives for mass storage.

A couple of quick snaps of the 9960X with more to follow along with the Iron Wolf Pros when they arrive.

Another quick update as more parts have arrived for this one. Some better shots of the 9960X from Intel and we also took delivery of some 10Tb Iron Wolf Pro drives from Seagate.

This build will house all our data so its great to have the performance and reliability of these drives for the foreseeable future. I’m undecided whether to Raid these or leave them as 20Tb total storage.

Pure Pastel is currently taking up all my time but hopefully, that will be coming along over the next couple of weeks so that I can make a start to the case mods here. I don’t know too much about the 9600X to be honest and given its a 16/32 3.1 / 4.4 it will be curious to see how the 2990WX stacks up in gaming mode at 16/32 3.0 / 4.2.

Also as part of this and the RTX 2070 XC Ultra sent from EVGA, until we are ready on Team Green, I paired the card with the 2990WX and set new global records for a load of 3D Mark tests. Its becoming a bit of an obsession but I am curious to see just how far I can push the combinations I have available to me at this time.

If you are following along on Facebook or Instagram then thank you, its been a busy week with some great feedback still coming in from our Ghostbusters build. Finally, I feel like we are getting somewhere and that only motivates me more to push on with what we have lined up for the future!
