hdd password

I put had put a password on my hard drive in the bios yesterday and this morning when I booted my computer the first time, it asked for the pw, and then when I restarted, the system clock was back to default and it hadn't asked for my pw..Not sure what to think about this....any suggestions?

Your password is on the motherboard, not the HDD. Try clearing CMOS but it is very unlikely you will be able to recover it without replacing the BIOS chip.

@nextg3n Too late now. The BIOS has been triggered and will want the password when you boot up again.

yes,, actually, there is no battery, I couldn't find one so I just left it out... Thanks so much, makes so much sense. Now I feel dumb, but THANKS! Now an even sillier question, how do I TAG you?

I really appreciate your imput, as of right now it's FROZEN, but machine still booting... I'm not completely locked out, so somebody did something right at some point and I'm pretty sure it wasn't me  ha ha .Appreciate t the feedback. Have a great day!
