What do you mean you don't have anything to test with or play with? You have this server and thats more than enough alone. Just put a hypervisor on it like hyper-v or proxmox and fire up some vms and start making some virtual network and see how it goes.

What other server do you have? add it to the vm cluster?

Do you care about power usage? Id be tempted to flip it

Currently I use a raspberry pi 4 4gb of ram to host my wordpress site (low amount of visitors). I do care about power usage, and I just bought the server as a project, but the project seemed kind of impossible so I decided not to do it. I could visualize it, but I don't know what to use to vms for.

VMS are great for separating out different tasks and running many different versions of a os on one piece of hardware. It would be good to play with if you haven't before. Id go put a hypervisor on it.

If you care about power usage, don't run this as a 24/7 server, these systems can easily use 200+w under normal load(my server sits at aound 300w under normal load, but it has a lot of cards and drives)
