Hello everyone,

I just had a quick question. I'm sure that this has already been asked/answered but I cannot find any definite answers.

I am looking on getting a SSD for windows 7 for my desktop, but I am at college right now and I don't have:

1) Windows 7 boot disk

2) any of the other program install disks (I had quite a few but they are all unavailable right now)

3) any SSD experience

My question is if I install Windows 7 on a SSD, will I have to re-install all of the other programs on my computer? Also will I need to delete Windows 7 from my old HDD?

Another option that I have found is migrating the OS to the SSD with Paragon Migrate OS to SSD 4.0. Has anyone used this product or recommend something similar?

Any answers are great, as well as any tips on what not to do from people with the same situation.

Thanks in advance!

Dr. Brown

P.S. The SSD I am planning on getting is the Kingston V300 120gb, its only 59.99 right now on TigerDirect.com.

I would like to do that, but I already have about 500 gb of data on my HDD so that really isn't an option for me right now. And I would like to do a clean install to speed things up all the more.

Also a second reason why I would like to switch to a SSD is I attend a few LAN parties a year and I would like my OS to be on something that is a little more durable.

In my memory, I believe you can install the SSD with the same license key for Win7 as the one that you're already using. If that's true then you can try to use that 500GB HDD as external and transfer items via USB after SSD finish installing, or just install the necessary programs then run 500GB HDD as external when you need it.
