Hey y'all,

I'm looking for some help either updating or starting entirely from scratch. I've attached a picture of some of my computer specs. I am very much an amateur at pc building. I could figure it out a basic build, but probably couldn't manage something like water cooling or whatnot.  Here are my goals:

1. $1750 firm budget.

2. Monitor not necessary, I have a 1920x1080 60mhz monitor currently, but it would be nice to update too?

3. I can either update my current rig or start fresh (maybe steal parts from old pc?).

Let's see what y'all can make happen!

- just get a gpu and game on current system (rx570 /580/ gtx1660)

-play around with cpu overclocks till cpu/ mobo totally gives up

from your memo, only hard drives are worth keeping if you are planning for new build

This is what I'd do with the budget:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($194.79 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler  ($69.95 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($189.99 @ B&H)
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($139.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: HP EX950 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($269.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB XC ULTRA GAMING Video Card  ($709.99 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($69.98 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($90.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $1735.66

It should easily fit with Black Friday deals, and if you shop smartly you can likely save about $300 to $400 for something similar.

I'd use the money from selling your old system to fund a better monitor, if you didn't already include those funds in your budget.

If you're sticking with 1080p60, I'd get a 2060 Super instead.

Wouldn't in benefit to keep my current PSU?

If I go for the 2060 would there be room for monitor in budget? Suggestion?

Over budget, but again, Black Friday would rein that in.

Does anyone have any input on this build? I think I plan on keeping my 1TB 7200 hard drive and the 2TB 7200 hard drive. The SSD I currently have has windows already installed on it, but from what I've read it's probably best to start with a new hard drive and a new copy of windows (due to drivers etc)? Is it worth keeping the current SSD and windows or the aforementioned? If I kept it, I could squeeze into a 2080 GPU, or purchase a new monitor.

I'm not familiar with how this would compare to the AMD build I made before either. Input is helpful.
