I don't see why it wouldn't still work, as long as you still have the cooler for it (as you say the dye is exposed I guess that the cooler has been removed)

 

The only question is if the integrated gpu in some G series Ryzen chips wouldn't actually be better than your 390. Depending on your cpu choice you could have a look into that topic
