Hello,

I am helping someone with a problem on his pc. he said he reset his pc (with system repair) because his OBS wasn't working for streaming.

now after the reset he has a drop in fps. he is running a i7-8700k with a 2070super. and he used to play fortnite with a fps cap of 144 for his monitor and this never dropped below. since after the reset it drops has noticeable drops from 144 to 120 some times even 80/90 depending on what is going on ofcourse.

I thought it may be something to do with the nvidia settings but those seem alright i checked if everything is at high preformance. the xbox  dvr is disabled also the game bar. also i checked the bios and found out it was not running in XMP settings so i enabled XMP but there is no diffrence. windows is also up to date and graphics drivers.

I see loads of topics like this but the things i named above are always what they say in the forums but it seems not to be the answer i am looking for.

anny ideas?

Thanks!

Try installing all the drivers that may be required from intell, nvidia, mobo manufacturers and see if that fixes any issues. Also you try to monitor cpu or gpu usage to see whether the game uses all the resources available. I had a similar issues on a laptop where I would lower settings on a game like fortnite and then I'd get worse performance but if I would put it to the recommended settings that geforce experience gave the game would run extremely smooth and nice so you may want to keep that in mind as well.

Other than that you could try using a debloater to remove useless windows features like cortana and optimize the system. Other than that I don't really see the issue.
