Goodday,

I have a question for all of you tech savvy people on the internet. I bought a ps4 pro about 2 years ago (I know right), and with that, I bought a 4K monitor. After a while, I got tired of the toxic console community and was willing to join the sweaty pc master race. So, I lost myself in the wonderful world of PC building.

This is the build I am currently gaming on:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100X Extreme Performance
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz
MB: Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING
GPU: Geforce 1080ti
PSU: CORSAIR CX-M Series CX750M
1 TB of HDD storage
250 GB SSD storage

I have used and enjoyed this PC, but having a 4k monitor and not being able to get a comfortable 60+ fps on appealing settings in most of the games (I play a lot of AAA titles), annoyed me extremely. So my question is, What would I have to change to get that comfortable 60 fps in 4K games? And if I decide to change my monitor to a 1440p and 144 Hz monitor, what would I have to change then?

Thanks in advance,

Fabian

You shouldn't have to change anything if you go to 1440p. You might see slight gains by going to a 3600/x, and naturally a 2080ti would be a good upgrade though extremely expensive. If you want to save some money, the 2080 Super is a good choice, though honestly I don't think it'd warrant an upgrade over your 1080Ti.

What settings do you play on? If you're set to Ultra, try dropping to High. Most people can't notice the difference between the two but it can net some good performance improvements. Also, dropping AA if you're playing on a 4k monitor since it's not really necessary.

Personally, I wouldn't get the 2000 series from Nvidia. I've talked to a lot of people that have experienced issues with them.

Welcome to the forum.

A 2080ti and a 3900X or 9900K (and Mobo), depending on the game.  You have a "just below top tier" system right now.

Eh, the CPUs wouldn't really be that much of an upgrade in terms of gaming FPS.

Like I said, depends on the game.

There's maybe 3 games that would play better on that CPU.
