Hey there,

Just had to create a new account because forgot my old account password and email. Woops.

Anyways. I'm trying to install Windows 10 on my new built PC but I'm having some issues. I currently have an Apple laptop running MacOS and I'm trying to make a bootable USB drive and I'm quite confused as last time I did this was quite a while ago and I was using a disc

I downloaded the Windows 10 .iso file off of the windows website but I'm confused on what I'm supposed to do after that. All the websites I've found have told me to open the file and then go through various steps in an actual window that appears of selecting things and the drive you want to make a bootable drive. Except on my Mac laptop, none of that appears when opening the .iso file but rather just another folder appears with a bunch of files inside.

I have tried moving all of those files onto an empty USB and plugging it into my computer while in the bios but the USB drive doesn't appear so I can't select it as a boot device.. I've also restarted the computer with all of these files on but rather than just go straight to the bios, it says something along the lines of error booting operating software.

I've tried just putting the .iso file on and again the USB drive does not get recognized in the bios as a drive I can boot from.

So it seems I've got multiple issues going on here and I'm not sure what to do.

Also, I'm using a Gigabyte X570 mobo with a Ryzen 3700x. Any advice is welcome. Just trying to get this working ASAP.

Thanks.

!) Format the usb drive as FAT32 otherwise it wont work

2) Open the ISO

3) Extract all files & folders

4) Copy all extracted files & folders onto the flash drive

5) Boot the PC and go into BIOS

6) Disable CSM (Compatibility Support Module), enable Fast Boot & Secure Boot

7 Save and Exit then mash F8 to open the boot menu

Does the drive show up now?

I've just tried doing this and got stuck on step 4.

I formatted the USB as FAT32 and erased all data off of it. Extracted the files etc. I tried moving the files across to the USB and it gave me the error: "The item “sources” can’t be copied because it is too large for the volume’s format."

The item it is talking about is 5.32gb in size. I'll try moving everything across individually and see how that works.

I've just checked in that folder called "sources". There's a file named install.wim that is 4.5gb in size and that's the file that's too large in size that brings up the error previously mentioned.

Thats a common issue, redownload the ISO but dont get the international version, get the US version instead. The windows image will be small enough to fit on FAT32.

Once installed you can swap region and Keyboard layout easily.

For reference the issue is the language files, the international version has multiple languages, the US version has only one.

The one I downloaded was just the "English" version. Should I try the international and see?

Interesting, I wonder if 1903 has grown the wim to be bigger than 4GB?

Try and download a program called UNetBootIn, its free, has a mac version and will create an installer for you from an ISO.

Ok. I'm trying that now and it's making slow progress. It's currently stuck on the install.wim file... I'll let you know.

Done all of that. Plugged in the USB and booted the computer. The computer skipped the bios and went straight into windows without me telling it to do so. I selected a language and clicked begin and then followed a message saying:

"Windows cannot open the required file C:\Sources\install.wim. Make sure that all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007000D.

What now?
