Hi, I need the community help to address or understand an issue that I got with my Memory Ram, The thing is that I made a ryzen 2700x build with a b450f gaming asus motherboard and 8x2 gb ram (16gb) gskil tridentz ( model F4-2933C16D-16GTZRX) 2933 frequency. Here is where the issue comes, I wanted to upgrade to 32 gb, of ram, so I looked up for the same model that I already had, and where $100 more expensive, however the 3200 frequency model (F4-3200C16D-16GTZRX), where a $150 less expensive, so I made my research, and It look like it can work, the problem was that If I want the ram running at high speed than the lower base clock module, I would have to xmp.

So I bought  the 3200 version, and plug it in the motherboard, the 3200 in dual channel, and the 2933 in dual channel, and ask the motherboard throught the BIOS to run them at 3000, thinking, not to high and not to low, however, it couldnt and it restart with default propeties (1866), and they run like a charm, so I start testing frequencies, and the higher they can get is 2800 without no issues, higher thant that, the motherboard cant start so it reset back to default again.

So my question is, is this normal? and if it is, can someone explain me why they cant get higher then 2800? or, am I doing something wrong and they should be running with no issues at higher speeds?

Thanks. looking forward for the community help.

More memory is just more stressful to the memory controller, and 4 DIMM setup is born with frequency disadvantages to 2 DIMM setups (even if the capacity and number of ranks is the same). That's how more expensive boards and memory kits proof their worth.
