Remote port forwarding.

Jihakuz

Hi all, I think I have a slightly strange case here:

I am currently living at University, however my server is running at my parents house. I can ssh/remote desktop into it fine, using that has come in super handy. However one of the main problems so far is the fact that I can not remotely port forward anything to the server.

The router I am using is the default BT one they gave us, never could convince the parents to get anything better!

Searching online for "Portforward bt homepage" obviously just give tutorials on how to port forward BT, which is not what I want.

Thanks,

Jihakuz.

Are you trying to access the configuration page of the router so you can manage port forwarding settings?

Yes, as insecure as that sounds

You can remote desktop into your server, right? If so, I would just use that to access the page.

No problem. Sometimes the easiest solutions are right in front of us. I can't say I've never done that.......

You can also use an ssh tunnel and use a browser (firefox supports this) to access to router as if your browser was on the local network.
