Hello, I'm new to this forum.

Basically I've been having some weird issues. When playing a game my PC freezes for a second or 2 and then just recovers like nothing happened. The frame freezes, the sound repeats itself over and over and it doesn't recognize any input made during that time. I was wondering what could cause this? This happens during most games, Banished and Overwatch being among the few I have no issues with. Games like AOE 2 (2013), Medieval II, Total War: Rome II, Borderlands 3. I'm 100% sure it's not my specs not being up to par since I'm running

i7-8700k

RTX 2080

16GB RAM

650W PSU

I've overclocked my graphics card so I thought that could've been the issue, but when I revert it to factory settings nothing changed. I updated my drivers as well and that seemed to have fixed the problem for AOE 2, until I rebooted my system afterwards.

Any suggestions?

I have the same issue, but I've checked my HDD's and SSD for errors, and none pop up. Do you know what could be causing this?

Ryzen 5 2400G

RTX 2060

16GB DDR4 2400

MSI B350M Gaming Pro

500W PSU

Something maxing out your CPU/GPU/Memory bandwidth.  APUs really need faster memory than 2400, jumping up to ~3000 can give up to a 20% performance boost.

The other thing could be SATA retransmissions.  I have a few drives that seem th have weak signal output and they can drop/reconnect randomly causing this problem or BSODs if they are the OS drive.  SATA cable quality and routing is more important for these drives.

The iGPU in the 2400G is currently disabled. Could the RAM speed still be affecting the performance, and would overclocking the ram help?

Depends on the RAM.  I had a 2133 kit that would do 3200 with enough timing and subtiming fiddling.

Ram overclocking generally takes much longer to nail down than CPU overclocking.

I let chkdsk /r run while I'm off for work, I hope it fixes it

I did some testing and looks like it worked. I finished my AOE II skirmish without stuttering and just launched M2TW and did some testing and that all seemed fine too. Thanks for helping!
