Laptop for school

I am in the market for a new laptop for school. I want a nice design that doesn't scream for attention. I really like Apple's designs but I would also like to game on it. I found the Lenovo Legion Y540 witch is not to "gamey" is that makes sense. My budget is around 1500-2000 Euro. Should I buy an MacBook or go for Windows?

Thinkpad, don't buy a gaming laptop for school work, and don't buy a Macbook if you want something that'll last more than a year.

??

OP: I like my XPS 15, with an undervolt + repaste + a tiny bit more mounting pressure it games just fine. Dell's G3 is also great, and really cheap (last time I checked it was 800$ for 8300H + 1660 ti)

On the macbooks, I have seen far more with random issues than PC laptops.  Every one I have seen in the wild has some sort of defect or issue that the user "just lives with".

I have a 2012 macbook air that runs just fine, and my parents have an iMac 2017 that seems fine. (it doesn;t have an ssd D:)

The macbook air does suprisingly well, considering it has a sandy bridge dual core

Dont go for macbook they're a bit overpriced for what they are. And if something breaks, forget repairing it because of Apple's business model(they purposely design their products so that if something goes wrong it'll be irreparable if not the repair bill will be the equivalent of a new laptop).

The lenovo Y540 isn't bad and is overall fine depending on what specs you go for. The only con being the meh battery life.

May want to also consider the zephyrus G just cause its thinner, has much better battery life cause of the 76whr battery and still has good performance.

I would also avoid buying a laptop with a Hard Drive  and go for SSD cause HDD are slow, and not quite up to the rigors of daily school travel.
