Is my RAM speed where it should be?

By default, CPU-Z (and task manager) show 1066 MHz. If I set DRAM-Frequency to 3200 MHz, it doesn't boot. If I set it to 2666 MHz then CPU-Z shows 1333 MHz. The RAM is rated at 3200 MHz, but the most I can get is 1333x2 = 2666 MHz. (See attached pictures)

Does this mean my motherboard is not compatible with my RAM?

Here are my specs:

  • ASRock X399 Taichi
  • Corsair DOMINATOR® PLATINUM 64GB (4 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16
  • AMD Threadripper 2920X

May this help you. This Board supports 2666Mhz at stock. If you want to utilize all your 3200Mhz speed you better overclock your RAM to reach the RAM speed of the card.

I got this info from the web:

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-memory-tweaking-overclocking-guide/

I google it and hope it helps you overclock your ram.

If you dont know How to overclock or troubleshoot a badoverclock, I don't recommend you to perform RAM overclocking.

Your motherboard supports 2666Mhz RAM at stock. The RAM you kept inside is rated at 3200MHz. You're lucky that your system runs at 2666MHz with XMP profile. In some cases if the RAM speed doesn't match the compatible speed motherboard, the PC wouldn't boot. But in your case the  RAM has under clocked itself to suitable speed compatible to the motherboard (2133Mhz) so that it can run. The only way to run those RAM at 3200Mhz is by overclocking the RAM. But if you have no hand in overclock or had no experience with it better to stick with 2666Mhz or call a expert to overclock the RAM. I advise you to learn about overclocking its pros and cons before you jump into overclocking.

Okay so my RAM is at a good balance between performance and stability, as it's not being overclocked at 2667 MHz. I only use my computer for programming and deep learning, so I don't have much to gain from OC. I saw others who have run Corsair Dominator Platinum's on this MOBO at 3200 MHz, so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting the capability of the RAM/mobo combination.

Thank you for the response Aashirbad
