Overclocking my GPU, Screen turns Black

Hi,
first of all: this is the first time that I really want to overclock my system and have a funny behavior here.

My system has the following hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x
Mainboard: MSI x470 Gaming Pro
GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Aero 8GB
PSU: Corsair HX1000 Platinum

Furthermore CPU and GPU are water cooled. The maximum temperature under full load is about 40°C for the GPU with water cooling.

I was going to overclock the GPU. For this I used the MSI Afterburner. If I increase the Core Clock it works so far even up to +240mhz without problems. Also a control with Kombuster shows no artefacts or similar.

But as soon as I start TimeSpy in overclocked state, the screens turn black and I don't get any more output from the graphics card. It doesn't matter if the card is overclocked with 10mhz or 240mhz.

Only when I disconnect the monitors for about 10 minutes do I get a signal again. This doesn't seem to be a software problem entirely. If I don't get a signal, then I also don't get a signal under my Ubuntu which I have running next to Windows 10 on the system.

On BIOS level I get a display signal all the time.

have you ever experienced such a behavior?

I've experienced a similar issue on my system, but in my case it happened even if the GPU wasnt OC-ed at all.

Turned out to be memory instability, RAM not VRAM - since a few AGESA updates from AMD my mobo and/or CPU became incompatible with my Kingston Fury 3200 ddr4 RAM when the RAM is set to XMP (either 3200 or 2933). My RAM automatically stes to 2666 MHz and it works just fine.

i made an bios update a week ago, cause the release note say something about the "improved RAM compatibility". maybe i should try to downgrade the bios to the last "known good" bios.
