I was wondering how these kind of setups worked. Like I know it is possible to have all your OS and programs in your solid state drive, and everything else (mainly data) in your hard disk drive.

I’d like to know whether this comes preset or you have to set it up. In this case, Id like to know hows that done

The OS mounts drives independently, its plug and play.

If you have 1 drive and add a second, itll just be another drive you can access.

Theoretically as many as your board supports or until you run out of drive letters.

So given the case that Ill buy a laptop with both drives preinstalled (ssd&hdd), the os (windows) will be preinstalled within the ssd?

btw; what is plug & play?

You could use something like store mi to set up a smaller ssd as a cache drive to speed up your HDD also

i5-14600KF // 120x38MM Cooler Master AIO // B760i // 64GB DDR5 6000 // PNY RTX 5070 // Cooler Master NCORE 100 Max // Cooler Master V SFX-850 Gold // UWQHD AOC Display

It will most likely be on the SSD, the HDD will just be for mass storage.

Plug and play is the name for devices that can be simply plugged into the system and work without any driver installs, jumper configurations, etc

If you have a sata drive and plug it into a PC, itll just work.

Plug a usb keyboard in, itll just work.

Plug a ps/2 mouse in, itll just work.

Plug and play.

Okay thanks!!
