I am currently deciding on another VR headset to buy (my sister has taken ownership of my hp wmr) but i will need to run it in a different room if i buy a vive due to room needed, so i was wondering how long i could make the cables before it starts really effecting performance

First:

Make the cables longer? The cables are a fixed length...

 

Second:

Buy a Valve Index. Much better.
