tech support Frequent frame drops after upgrading gpu

I've recently upgraded from a gtx 970 to a rtx 2080 and have been experiencing lag spikes in basically all the games I've been playing with dips in the 20-40 fps with both the gpu and cpu not reaching 100% usage. At first I thought it was my power supply but after running an hour long stress test nothing happened. Temps are around 60-70 degrees under load for both my cpu and gpu.

So far I've tried to reinstall the nvidia drivers, updating the bios, updating windows and changed the standard physx presets.

 

my system specs are:

Cpu: Ryzen 5 1600x

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair VI Hero

Ram: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200 mhz

Gpu: Asus Rtx 2080 Strix

Power supply: Corsair CX 600

OS: Windows 10 version 1903

Monitor: Samsung 3440x1440p cf791

Have you used DDU?

Go download and run DDU. You likely have a driver conflict from the different generations of cards.

I've already tried using DDU and doing a clean install but it didn't work.

I have it enabled

well leave it disabled regardless, does a ton of harm and zero good.
