Hi LTT forums,

Had my main system for a while and been thinking about upgrading a lot mainly the GPU as my 980Ti struggles with newer games at 3440x1440 and am currently looking at 2080 to 2080Ti performance (not necessarily those cards kind of wanna wait and see what AMD has as I have used the 980Ti for so long I am willing to wait it out to get something better/better value or until the 980Ti dies) but my question is do you think my system would be alright with such a class of GPU in newer games considering the resolution? I think that I could probably OC the CPU a bit more over 4.4 to maybe 4.6.

EDIT: I also do plan to change the cpu, motherboard and ram at a later date.

TIA,

Max

Your CPU is still capable but it's power hungry and it's 4 generations (almost 5!) behind.

I'd be looking into used 9900K when prices go down and 2080 Ti potentially if 2080 Ti Super comes out (as there's a rumor but it's not likely that it will come out, it makes no sense).

Unless you don't do just gaming then perhaps 3800X or similar might satisfy your needs too.

I'd stretch and get EVGA 2080 Ti USED. Warranty is transferable and you'd save a fair penny.

3072 cuda cores (SUPER) or 2944 (2080 Normal) with 2080 vs 4352 on 2080 Ti.

Main PC:

CPU: Intel Core i9 14900KS SP 109 (125P-79E) (6.1Ghz P-Cores 4.8Ghz E-cores) MC SP 88

I don't just game on my main system and so 3rd gen Ryzen is very appealing and is the way I will probably go just interested in peoples take on paring a high-end GPU with the 5930K and what GPUs they think (both current and rumoured/upcoming) while I wait on upgrading the rest of the system and I think 2080Ti class is where I want to be for performance but also the extra longevity with VRAM.

Ryzen 4000 series next year for the cpu. Or if Intel manages to release something that isn't a space heater like the 9900K since the i9 uses more power than your GPU which is insanity.

As for the card, wait doe the 2080 Ti Super
