  • 5 Year warranty
  • I have 2 and love them, I have all my games on 1, its nice and fast
  • I have had a few hdd's and found the WD Blacks are the most reliable

nothing else to really say about it, it does everything it says it does. My WD blacks get used around 12 hours a day for the last couple of years, and still running strong, no signs of slowing.

You had me on 5 year warranty, for a mechanical item very important, thanks for input. I might put older games on it, so it could help.

I would imagine the reason why the Black drive is more, is because of the software and warranty/service. Essentially raw performance is the same. Its the software and service they provide that you're paying for.

Actually warranty is a big difference, so wd black it is, thanks for input.

BARRACUDA FTW

Get the barracuda.

Why not get a SSHD from Seagate?

Reds are for NAS systems, Green for eco, Blue for normal use and Blacks for performance. The Barracuda would be my pick out of those as it is very reliable and quite cost effective. To me if I want a fast boot drive or just a generally faster experience I'd get an SSD or SSHD, not a WD Black.

2 year warranty, maybe not the best but the drive itself wouldn't fail in 2 years, unless you drop a brick on it. Well maybe not but if you do heavy reads and writes constantly than it would, but not if you were to only game.

You'll be fine with a Barracuda if you only want to be using fraps, plus you've got an SSD for performance so a 2TB Barracuda will be quite nice, a WD Black isn't needed.

But why pay more for s sshd, if I already have enough speed?

To cache the data to make it faster? Maps in BF4 will load faster.

Olay in that case, I could actually get a 3tb for a bit more future proofing.

Yeh, got everything working, now I'm just waiting for the prices to drop to buy the 290 :). You'll be able to get the Barracuda from $115 at Newegg, they have the best prices in the US.

Already had someone PM about it, it is very nice. It's quite big for a "medium" size, it's actually as long as my KB and twice as big, depth wise. My MX Revolution just glides, but if you have a high DPI mouse or sensitivity than you might not want to get the large, I only use about the middle ninth when I'm not gaming but it's good as you can just use it as a surface for your wrist. The only thing I advise you to not do is use it on an uneven or flexible surface. It grips quite well to smooth surfaces and the design looks quite good.

Hope your build turns out good :D.

Thanks, and Im a low dpi gamer, i use 1800dpi on my death adder, and usually turn sensitivity down in games, 3 months ago I used 900 so im improving. Thats good to know, probably will get it, I like razer, and green stuff. Hope when you get the gpu everything will turn out nicely as well, by any chance did you start a build log thread, id love to check it out..

No, you can't post images onto LTTF directly, you have to use a hyperlink which I don't like :S. Also my MX Revolution is only 800DPI, as I said I only use the middle ninth, just check the sizes before you buy, you might be surprised as to how big it is.

Okay I will, and im glad someone out there likes low sensitivity, how smooth is the speed one? Im actually looking for a bigger mouse mat as part of making my desk look nicer, but not the extended edition one. Also just wondering how loud are red switches, i have tried browns, and use blues right now, but im looking into maybe in the near future getting a ten keyless from coolermaster.

Extremely smooth, it's the equivalent of lying in a bed of silk while having a cup of milk. *facepalm* Dat rhyme lol.
