Future Proof Machine or Upgrade Current

In the past year, I almost stopped using my PC entirely. No gaming, no usage, nothing. I didn't even turn it on. I ended up selling my GPU in the system too, a 1080 at the time. However, I have begun to get back into it and I had a few questions.This is my current build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/monjanger/saved/#view=nWJGcf I was wondering if I should put at a 2060 and try and sell for around $1500, then buy a new PC. I have begun to transition to larger workloads, such as video editing and music production, but I also want something future proof. I would probably be putting around almost $1500 to 2000 in upgrade in my current system as the 2080TI prices are so high. However, I have grown tired of my case and system in general and I don't think the X99 system was a fit for me. I never felt like I utilized it. The other option is to build a new PC, or I should say use AVADirect and have it built for me.. I want something future proof, so that just a graphics card swap every couple years could keep me up to date with modern games. I want to eventually make the transition from 1440p/144HZ to 4k/144HZ, but it just does not seem practical right now. I would be ecstatic if I could run such a system for when Cyberpunk 2077 releases sometime in 2020. The build I have put together looks like this,

It would come to nearly $6000, but my idea would be that I wouldn't need to replace my Ram, PSU, or CPU, along with most of the parts for years as they are overpowered. I feel like an 8 core processor that can turbo boost to 5Ghz won't be outdated any time soon, and that 64GB of RAM as well as the PSU will last what seems like a lifetime. The only real concern to me would be the GPU, but I feel like by the time 4k/144Hz gaming becomes reasonable, new more capable GPUs will be made. If I were to go through with this build, do yo guys have any recommendations? I plan to setup a NAS, so hard drive space is covered. I also don't think I could fill up 4TB of storage, even with my entire steam library as I keep any backups, music, photos, and videos on external SSDs. Honestly though, I don't know what my course of action for my PC is. I was originally considering making a hardliner system, or another liquid cooled one as that would be my dream, and it would only be around $1000 more. But, it seems like replacing my GPU or even potentially my CPU and motherboard would be an absolute pain. I have kind of always lived with the idea of buying quality items that last, instead of buying products not quite as good. But I really would appreciate advice, and I don't mean to use $ numbers to brag, but rather show what I'm trying to do and how big of an investment for me this is. I have been struggling with addiction and find technology and gaming to be one of my few coping skills. Thank you all. .

You cannot future proof. Usually it's not something to worry about, someone buys a 2070 instead of a 2060 because it's more "future proof" but spending thousands of dollars in the hopes that you can resist the changes that come from tech advancements won't work, because you simply don't know what's coming. This $6000 rig resists the future just as well as a $2000 PC but it's really slick, so let's consider it present proof and call it a day.
