checked it on the MSI site but I wanna be 100% sure

some do come without it, some do

but a lot of msi boards have a function which you can use to flash it with just a usb and the press of a button

Will my GPU work with the motherboard?

of course

Hey guys,

Im planning to upgrade my old pc to a new Ryzen build. I only need a motherboard, CPU, RAM and a case.

The old parts that Im gonna use in my new PC:

HDD: Toshiba DT01ACA100

GPU: Gigabyte 1050Ti D5 4G
PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W

and a CD/DVD reader-writer that I bought from the nearest store.

The parts Im planning to buy:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

Motherboard: MSI X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WIFI or MSI X470 GAMING PLUS

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2x8) (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)

Case: Fractal Design Focus G Blue Window or Cooler Master MC500. Depends on the final builds price. I would buy the case used, dont wanna spend more money on it just because its new.

So my questions are:

  1. Do I need BIOS update for any of these motherboards? I checked it on the MSI site but I wanna be 100% sure. If yes, can I mess it up or is it actually like just downloading the file, putting on the pendrive and pressing one button and the CPU will work?
  2. Is that RAM worth it to buy? Will this work fine with the parts?
  3. Will the RAM work in dual channel? That would be really important for me. If no could you recommend me other RAMs that works in dual channel and is the same price?
  4. Most stupid question but I checked the motherboards compatibility and it confused me. Will my GPU work with the motherboard? I mean they only listed AMD cards.
  5.

Thanks for the answers in advance.

@kmangod

1. X570 boards no, B450X470 yes.

You don’t need a x570 board for that cpu unles you want pcie gen 4.

B450 tomahawk or gaming pro carbon will do fine. Both have USB flashback so you can update the bios via USB without the need of a older ryzen cpu.

2. I would suggest something like Corsair vengeance lpx 2*8 3200/3600mhz kit

3. That’s just a question of using the correct slots on the motherboard I believe normally it’s like. A2 B2 or vica versa.

4. Yes your current GPU will work, but hold back the full potential of your cpu.

MSI B450 Pro Gaming Pro Carbon AC | AMD Ryzen 2700x  | NZXT  Kraken X52  MSI GeForce RTX2070 Armour | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4*8) 3200MhZ | Samsung 970 evo M.2nvme 500GB Boot  / Samsung 860 evo 500GB SSD | Corsair RM550X (2018) | Fractal Design Meshify C white | Logitech G pro WirelessGigabyte Aurus AD27QD

that kit he's getting can do that, so that's not a problem

and corsair uses hynix, micron and samsung, just like almost any other vendor
