Zephyrus M GM501

Hello i just graduated from college (Computer science) and i was thinking about buying a laptop , i have a decent gaming desktop from where i do all my project when i'm at home. But when i'm not , i've always used my 2015 macbook pro because at the time i wanted absolutely a unix based machine and i didn't want ubuntu neither on second boot nor in VM . Now i kinda want to switch back to windows so i need a decent machine for my future project.

 

I found the Zephyrus M GM501 for  1437$ usd and i tought it was a good price for the spec for gaming and what ever i want to develop, so my question is:

 

Is is worth buying now, knowing that RTX laptop are kinda popular, plus icelake processor are knocking the door, i'm afraid buying it and regretting , so i am asking for help  Thanks

Where are you from? Usage? Preferred max weight and min battery life?

From Canada , i will mainly develop on this pc so i'll need to run multiple virtual machines , i really don't care about the battery 3 hours should be fine for me, i'll occasionally play league of legends or World of warcraft on it

What's your budget in CAD?

I would prefer a thin laptop, and my budget is between 1k5 - 2k in CDN depending on the mahcine

15 inch do not have a max thickness i want something similar to the zephyrus and weight preference, as long as i can carry it i don't care

Give a range on thickness and weight to make things easier

 

I don't think you need more GPU power tbh, fine with lower end GPU like MX150/MX250? Or you still prefer gaming/performance laptop?
