So, this is a really weird issue. I had a Samsung (1600x900 60 Hz) lcd monitor that had some problem with the pcb in it. The local repair guy replaced the whole guts of the monitor (the panel is intact) with some custom board. Now every time I start the computer the monitor thinks it is a 16:10 1440x900 60 Hz monitor while NVIDIA Control Panel is clearly set at 1600x900 at 60 Hz.

So I am getting a squished 16:9 image through a 16:10 viewport. The only remedy to this, and this is totally bonkers, is to set a custom resolution in NVIDIA to 1600x900 at 59 Hz. This solves the problem and shows a pristine 16:9 image.

However, whenever I restart my computer it reverts back to the native resolution of 1600x900 60 Hz and the monitor squishes to 16:10 again. How do I force the custom resolution permanently or change the native refresh rate to 59 Hz? Please help!!
