It's probably more useful for diagnosing fan issues though. 

Does running them at full speed effect fan life in any way?  Really appreciate all the help again man.

Yes, it'll wear them out more quickly but fans are rated to run at 100% rpm anyway so it's usually not an issue with any decent fans.
