Ok guys, so I am new here and this is going to be my first question I ask here........ So here it goes!

I just purchased a Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 56 for $172 of of OffferUp. That to me was just too good of a deal to pass up, I asked the lady if it had ever been taken part and she said it has never been opened up, maintained or anything.

So in my mind I need to definitely clean it, reapply some new paste, and change the pads(probably not needed but couldn't hurt). So I heard the back side of the Vegas run hot generally and these come with a backplate and its a ever

long battle debacle about if the back plates cool or not, but my question is this, If I purchase a non-conductive 1.5mm thermal pad that I can attach to the back of the GPU to then connect to the backplate to make sure the thermal conductivity & transfer of heat is as high as it can be, will this damage or cause any sort of issues with the functionality of the card? I researched it and I just want to see what the community here thinks. Also, I am stuck on which thermal paste I should buy as well, I really want to try Kingpins KPX as I heard it is amazing even not under LN2, and or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. I could get conductonaut, but having HBM2 I do not want to risk putting it on my GPU, unless you guys have some pointers on how to apply but keep my GPU protected as well, and I have a Ryzen 1800x I purchased second hand for $110, but I only have a STOCK cooler, So I believe the conductonaut will do nothing. I am asking for opinions, advice, experiances and anything else anyone wants to input! Thank you guys!

P.S. - Which Thermal Pads do you all recommend? I see that Fuji-Poly Extreme has a avg. w/mK ratings running from 12-17. Then GELID GC has a set that is cheaper and is 12w/Mk.

Also, LOL, I am in the market for a new gaming mouse and headset am stuck between a Glorious Model O, Logitech G502 Hero, Logitech G Pro. For headsets I am thinking a DT 770, DT 990, or something equivalent but I need first hand experiences and stories. I'll be honest I am upgrading while I have a little money as I am not very wealthy, so I am just trying to get the best bang for my buck but get the best performance I can to start training to become a professional gamer(Yes I know...)

Thanks again!

Totally get some Fujipoly Extreme 17W/mK in .5mm and 1mm. Since it's practically impossible to know the correct thickness you can stack pads to make sure they touch. I replaced all the pads on my RX 580 and was able to push the memory to 2600Mhz when stock I could only do 2250Mhz so it definitely works well.

Also, you don't want to use Conductonaut LM as I don't believe the cooler is nickel or copper, or even if it is some of it may be aluminum. If you use LM with aluminum that can cause serious corrosion which is a bad time. Just use Kryonaut for the die.

@ChintzyPC Thank you for your input! I was thinking of getting the Kryonaut, But I heard Kingpins new paste is better. What do you think, and for the Fujipoly Pads where did you purchase them? I see them on amazon but they run usually around $23-30 for the 1-1.5mm pads

I believe Fujipoly just ships them through Amazon so you would technically get it from them even if you order it through Amazon. I got a free sour patch kid with mine lmao. As far as the KPx goes, I think his new paste is alright and you probably won't notice any difference between his and Kryonaut. It's really just down to brand loyalty at that point.

All quality thermal paste will perform within 1-2c variance of each other.

The real benefit of KPX is sub zero cooling, it does not crack like the majority of other pastes out there at -150c. Kryonaut is also good for sub zero, but from what I've seen KPX is the best.

Just use the kryonaut.
