Hi all, so I have kind of a unique situation. I am the president of the robotics club on my college campus, recently have have seen a big spike in membership. Because of this membership spike we are struggling to get new funding due to the slow processes all around campus. We have been trying to get corporate sponsorships and local donations with some success but we still have a large gap to fill.

The reason why I am posting is that the club is in need of some new computers. The computers we currently have a very slow, and starting to die out. We really just need some simple towers capable of running some basic autocad software, internet browsing and dual monitor support. I am thinking about picking up some used components on Ebay and seeing if I can put together 4-6 new towers for us to use. IT currently does not have anything of use sitting around that we could have, and it would be very expensive to try and purchase anything through them so that option is out.

The team has a lounge that we call the mail room, where people can come in and hang out, listen to music, and use these computers for whatever they would like. These computers are also used to run our 3D printers, and programing of any projects we may have going on.

Does anyone have any input on this or suggestions? I'm not sure if I could find someone willing to donate some components, or if there is a better way to go about this. Any help and comments are appreciated!!

So they are all different, they have been handed down my IT throughout the years and kind of thrown together. In general they do not have more than 6gb of ram, and I believe they are all running Intel Core Duo processors. I am unsure what the graphics solution is in any of them.

They are old, anything would be an upgrade!

I'm not exactly sure how much power you need for the stuff you said, but maybe a Ryzen APU of some sort, like a 2400G. Toss that in along with 8GB of RAM and a 120GB SSD and you're set.
