Why?

Your R5 2600 should be fine.

If you want to upgrade anything, it should be your GPU. How much RAM have you got?

Seems an unnecessary expense of a new motherboard too.  Does it not support a Ryzen 3700X if you are REALLY sold on upgrading the CPU?

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

Also, upgrading your CPU would require a new motherboard, a Z-series one to be exact. So add that in, and heres a price summary:

New CPU: 250

New MoBo: 150

An AIO because you said you want one: 120

And in total you have $520.

Get a 2070 Super instead.

It will not be bottlenecked by your CPU, especially at 1440p. Getting an RTX 2070 Super will increase performance way way more than getting an i5-9600k. Your GPU is the bottleneck right now, especially at 1440p, so you'dbe better off upgrading that instead

RX 5700XT could work for 1440p too, but wait for AIB cards

If you want more performance/"future proofing" then dont focus on the looks.

Also, you still have not told us your location, so I could not have known that.
