Need help AMD or Intel?

I plan to purchase a 2080ti soon and my 6700k ain’t gonna cut it.

should I just stick with intel and save on a new motherboard or does the Ryzen 7 have an edge over something like the 9700k?

What monitor do you use? For 4k gaming your 6700k is fine.

Also gonna gonna get an ultra wide 3440x1440 monitor

If going Intel you still need a new board. Despite it being the same socket, Intel locked out newer CPUs on 100/200 series boards. You want a Z390 board for a 9700K. Though to be frank, the R7 3700X is an objectively better product. Cooler, quieter, more efficient, noticeably faster for productivity and basically equal in gaming. Imo there is no reason to get a 9th gen Intel CPU atm.

Damn I thought I’d get away with the same motherboard if I simply stick with intel, that makes me lean a lot more to AMD

Sadly, Intel decided to give people who bought expensive Z170/270 boards the finger for no good reason. And to make it even more fun, they've already made it clear the next gen of CPUs won't work on Z390. So if you want more cores on Intel, you gotta buy a new board every time. On AMD you can get a good X570 board and upgrade to 16 cores if you want to. You have the option.
