MSI B450 Bios update

After downloading the required files onto a usb flash drive I attempted to update the BIOS on my new build. I plugged in the usb pressed the flash bios button and saw the LED light flash three times then stayed on. After 30 minutes, I gave up and turned off the power supply. Why is this happening? Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
