laptop dosen't start

my laptop is about a year old and recently it has been having this power up issue.If i don't use it for about half a day or so it dosen't start.The power led comes on and the fans spin but there is no display.Also it does start after a couple of tries and shutdown time has increased from a few seconds to close to a minute.It only happens if i dont use it for extended period of time.Is this a hardware issue or should i just reinstall windows and stuff.
