Hi,

Planning to upgrade from my 4790k to a newer CPU/Memory/Cooler setup.

I was going with a Threadripper 1900x as I already owned the mobo, but I've been assured this build will outperform it (the 1900x upgrade would have cost me £450), even when overclocked https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Aeioyoo/saved/#view=2sP9GX

Is there a better upgrade I can do for a cheaper price? Does this new upgrade need any changes or am I good to go?

Also heard there's a bios issue with the B450 Tomahawk but it's still most recommended, what's up with that?

Thanks

What are you planning to do? Game? If you're gaming the TR lineup is pretty garbo, gaming performance is a solid meh, especially compared to the Zen 2 chips. If you're doing workstation type stuff then it can be an option, but it still depends on what you're doing.

Gaming yeah, high core count is useless for me, went with 1900x for that reason.

Its whether there's better builds for a similar price; or I can make this more expandable in future for a better price, when I inevitably expand to a better CPU later i'll need new cooler for OC and maybe new mobo depending on bios updates for 3000 series cos there have been issues.
