is my GPU broken?

ok so, my R9 290X is broken i think. with it installed my system is more unstable and will randomly freeze. also if i launch DOOM it will sit in the menu for a minute or 2 and then the machine will freeze and the screens will go black. not even the reset switch works to get the screens to turn back on. i have to power it off by holding down the power button and turn it back on to make it work again. 

 

My specs are:

Asus M4A78T-E

Phenom X4 955 @ stock

12GB DDR3

R9 290X

500gb & 250gb 850 EVO ssd

Arch Linux (instability is also ther ein Windows, but rather than freezing it bluescreens)

 

can this be the gpu dying or is it something else? i had my RX460 installed for a bit and it froze once i think, over like a week. with the 290X it will freeze once or twice a day. DOOM freezes it after the same amount of time everytime i launch it.

Most R9 cards are being inflicted with “black screen death” thanks to windows 10 update.
