Hello again,

I have just build a new pc using the new 3700x and an ASROCK taichi.

I bought 2 480gb kingston sdds in the hopes to create a fast, RAID 0 steam drive, NOT A BOOT DRIVE.

I used the built in RAIDxert2 at the bios level and created a RAID 0 array, then in windows installed the raid drivers.

I tested the drive and am only getting 340mBps, where i though i would be getting atleast 800-900mBps...

Is there any reason I am not getting a performance increase?

Thanks for your reply's!

Setting your SSDs up in Raid 0 will have no noticeable difference in games.

Furthemore, Raid 0 needs to be configured correctly to achieve the double-speed effect which, again, you won't notice in most scenarios.

The only time you will notice a difference is in synthetic benchmarks.

ahh, ok thanks

In my opinion it's not worth getting this barely noticeable speed increase in exchange for doubling the chance of losing all your data since only one drive needs to die to lose it all.

If you are doing video editing or something maybe then it would be worth using Raid 0 to get the extra speed.

What are you using to test this with? If you were copying files or something, unless you're copying a gigantic file, you'll almost never see the performance figures that you see in synthetic benchmarks or what's printed on the specs.

I'm not sure why your performance is so low. I saw someone else do the same on YouTube with similar results.

Try Windows RAID0 and see if that fixes it. The benefit of this setup is you're no longer tethered to AMD. The performance numbers I've seen look at least as good as a single drive.
