Hi, i have some old parts and i wanna make some use of. But i only found 1 old PSU for them with only 4pins for the CPU. I have another old PSU somewhere but its probably gonna be the same. So if i connect 4 pins from one PSU and 4 from the other...could this work? I dont care much if those parts get destroyed. Im just asking if someone like knows that it isnt gonna work so i dont waste my time. If nobody knows i might try this and give you all the results :D

I ran a machine with dual power supplies for a few years

The key is to seperate the functions of each , firstly don't use two power supplies to power the same thing such as two 12v lines from two units going into the motherboard. You would want a setup that is more like a single power supply powering the motherboard and 12v connectors on the board , then the second unit powering all the drives/fans/and add on cards.

In your case , if the board needs an 8 pin and you power supply only has a 4 pin then the power supply won't be good enough for whatever it's powering.

however , this statement alone basically means you can do whatever you like. but still good to follow the rules for fire safety sake

LOl I want to use one psu for gpu just to see if it's not getting enough powe rand the other for everything else I have a rosewill 650w psu And I don't know if its really putting out 650 maybe you can help me?

That should be fine as GPU is separeted from the rest of the system. My concern is when 2 PSUs power 1 single cpu. You could also use a device tom meassure power draw from the wall. BTW what are the rest of your specs?

yeah don't do that.

Two power supplies won't make the exact same amperage and wattage and you effectively will have the opposite effect of one power supply trying to "charge" the other power supply backwards like two batteries connected in parallel with one having more charge than the other.

This used to be a thing and it was never a "great" idea. if your really wanting to use 2 PSU for 1 computer you can always use a 24 pin splitter https://www.amazon.ca/TOTOVIN-PSU-Supply-Motherboard-Adapter/dp/B072JM7KVD. This allows the 2nd psu to turn on when your computer turns on. Just make sure that your not using 2 powersupplys to split 24 pin power and cpu 8 pin power. The same goes for Sata drives. This could causes issues.
