Should I upgrade?

Hey so I have been working on a summer job for a few months now and I have a lot of extra cash on hand. I'm thinking of selling my fairly new Ryzen 3 2200g and buying a better processor like a Ryzen 5 1600 or something like that. Question is, what's worth buying and when should I buy it? I'm not good at predicting market trends so yea. 

Or should I just go for those processors being sold in AliExpress? They look cheap and all and they sound good...

Problem is I don't know how much you actually have.

 

For new products, next month or two should see the release of RX 5700 and XT cards carrying custom (i.e. better) coolers and those are potential good deals, though exact pricing unknown. You could always go with NVidia RTX 2060/2070 and their Super variant otherwise.

 

As for CPU, the best deal for upgrade will be the 3rd gen Ryzen 5 3600. Much better in gaming than the 1600 due to architecture rework. If it's too expensive you could just wait a few months for their lesser core count stuff, faster cores still game better than more slower cores.

then 3600 should be affordable in the future as prices slowly go down. It's 199US in the US, and will be more in the Philippines.

yeha you wer on the right track with grabbing maybe a 1600 or 1700 but the issue is you wont be gaining much on single core performance but will be gaining a significant on multi core and thread so games that would actually take advantage of more cores and threads would benefit. but I would personally wait on the 3600 to go down

if you can get them for 70% or lower than the price of 3rd gen CPUs with the same core count, sure. That's what their performance translates to.

I don't know the Filipino market that well so to be honest I don't know when it will go down for me it will go down I. A couple of months with sales

U can make it work at 1080p 60fps gaming in all titles, not more than that in the big ones (even the well optimized ones)
