With the release of Ryzen came the impetus needed for people to finally upgrade. In the case of an old friend of mine, it was time to ditch the old i5 and grab a 6 core for Adobe workloads.

Old specs:

i5 7400

Gigabyte B250-HD3

Antec Earthwatts 500W

New specs:

Ryzen 5 3600

MSI X570-A pro

Corsair CX450

The new PSU is a welcome change, makes the build a lot more secure. This rig was actually adapted from his first PC, which he got from his Uncle Billy. A few years ago, it sported an Athlon dual core, 7GB of DDR2, the aforementioned Antec PSU, an old ATI graphics card, and the case you see pictured below. What's most opportune, however, is that Uncle Billy actually had a Crucial MX100 lying around and that was pretty excellent, kept that all the way to the current build. We also kept the great looking retro case, and I did my best to cable manage.20190712_124310.thumb.jpg.936882d18ffb1ee7c8ad6a9b052221dd.jpg20190712_150853.thumb.jpg.f4f5d6152d62e781c7bf22e41ffd1efd.jpg20190712_163120.thumb.jpg.5078756f83c68826f3106b8b6fc4e4ca.jpg20190712_163238.thumb.jpg.f7a1b6957baba6853f695ec35e34b7e6.jpg20190712_163058.thumb.jpg.68b40d54e18163d7026f5334031a2a3c.jpg

Now I know what you're thinking: "aren't those 80mm fans that are super old really loud?" Don't be silly. Of course they are. I actually did have to get a little creative with the old case, the standoffs don't have screws for all of them so I spaced the ones I had evenly, and the front panel connector had an empty pin hole on the power led so I had to break it in half to get the wires onto the pins. Thankfully I was able to ditch some PWM to molex adapters that were in use.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.
