refresh rate help

i recently got my self a 144 z 1920x1080 LCD display.I have set it up and then when i went into the nvidea control panel to set the refresh rate from 60hz to 144hz my screen went blurry.Can someone help mr fix it?I havea gtx 1060 3 gb and i have a standard DVI cable,my mopnitor is a acer KG251Q same thing happens when i set it to antrhing above 69hz.pls help

Did you update the drivers for your GPU and everything before trying?

Yes I tried after testing the screen. It took multiple attempts to install the drivers since I was running old versions but the problem persists

What does the manual say? I think maybe you have to connect it via DisplayPort to get the higher refresh rate.

OK when I connect a display port do I need to attach audio cables.... Since when I tried the first time I didn't get a signal going thru the cord
