If I click on an excel file in windows explorer, the program opens but the file doesn't and the screen is just gray (see screenshot).

When I open Excel normally it works fine and i can create a new file, also files open normally if i drag and drop them onto the window.

I have tried a repair of office & a re install and the problem persists.

Specs:

i7 3770k

MSI Z77 MPower

8GB RAM

GTX 780

Windows 7

Thanks in advance.

Edit: when I close the program, it opens a message saying; 'there was a problem sending the command to the program'

Right click an Excel file>Open with>Select Excel from the actual install directory, not the predefined one.

try view, arrange all, put check in "windows of active workbook"

Just tried both if these and they didn't work :( thanks anyway.
