Hello. I would like second opinions on a matter i've been thinking about for a while. I have a Desktop Pc.

AMD A8-6600K

6GB DDR3

Nvidia GTX960 4GB(a very generic version bought from wish.com that i regret)
A 1 TB HDD and a 120GB SSD.

Now i want to upgrade the graphics card  cuz this one is doing an awful job. Crashes 24/7 ,is completely unstable , and very often completely destroys the image im seeing(literally fucks up the image on my screen)

I want to get a new one from a certified manufacturer(lesson learned) however i know that my CPU is probably going to bottleneck anything new or even remotely new. I was thinking of a rx460 sort of thing. Anything else you think might make this pc viable for some more light-gaming?

Thank you in advance.

your cpu will bottleneck a rx480 or 1060.

So with this is mind think abou a new cpu board and rams, before geting a new gpu.

Ryzen 1400 or 1600 will be fine and cheap.

I know. But im not willing to buy a whole new pc right now. All i wanna do is upgrade the gpu to make my current one slightly more viable.

So your system is gonna bottleneck almost anything decent made in the last few years. In reality it's kind of a waste of time buying a video card when you really need to replace 'everything'

However... as you indicate you're budget is limited and that's not an option right now... I'd recommend buying something second hand to save some money. I don;t know where you are located, but you can pick up an RX570/580 for around £80-130 in the UK... GTX 1060 will set you back at least £160 for the 6GB version used... with most of them going for almost double the price of the 570-580.

So due to your budget... I'd rule out paying a premium for an nvidia based card.

get the cheapest 570/570 and then save for a new MB/CPU/RAM

Or if your budget would stretch... go for a new MB/Ram with a ryzen 2400G as that would give you better 720p gaming without the need for a new video card at this time.

System 1: Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro, Ryzen 5 2600X, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz, Sapphire 5700XT, 250GB NVME WD Black, 2x Crucial MX5001TB, 2x Seagate 3TB, H115i AIO, Sharkoon BW9000 case with corsair ML fans, EVGA G2 Gold 650W Modular PSU, liteon bluray/dvd/rw.. NO RGB aside from MB and AIO pump. Triple 27" Monitor setup (1x 144hz, 2x 75hz, all freesync/freesync 2)

System 2: Asus M5 MB, AMD FX8350, 16GB DDR3, Sapphire RX580, 30TB of storage, 250GB SSD, Silverstone HTPC chassis, Corsair 550W Modular PSU, Noctua cooler, liteon bluray/dvd/rw, 4K HDR display (Samsung TV)

System 3 & 4: nVidia shield TV (2017 & 2019) Pro with extra 128GB samsung flash drives.
