Tv audio preset vs soundbar preset

The clueless enthusiast

Hi

I recently bought a good soundbar (a sony ht-rt4) for my LG tv. Like many sound bars it has preset for movie, game, etc but my tv does as well (The tv is connected through a optical cable).

Whats the conventional wisdom here? Is the tvs preset better to use or the sound bar?

Any other advice for getting the most out of this set up would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

See what sounds best. Also if the soundbar is on a surface try and bring it towards the edge of that surface a bit, this will help with comb filtering and getting rid of resonances and reflections.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
