OK, I decided to go for the 9600K. The $10 is worth the peace of mind I guess. I think I'll stick with my cooler choice, though. I just don't trust liquid.I wouldn't upgrade the cpu. By the time I'm ready for a new one I'd get whatever the latest and greatest is with a new motherboard. I don't usually upgrade anything for several years. Usually 3-5 I guess.

Final build?

Looks good to me! :)

Get the 9600k, it’s the same price so just get it with iGPU. It’s great for troubleshooting and Quick Sync. RAM is fine. If you want Cooler Master, go with the ML240L, 212 is not good for a 9600k

What do you mean about troubleshooting? I looked up Quick Sync and it seems it really only helps for rendering. That's something I'd definitely never do. This is  just a gamingbuild. The 9600kf is $10 cheaper, so unless there's a performance difference I'd like to save that $10. The cooler looks cool, but I've heard bad things about liquid coolers that they can leak and kill other parts. Is this a risk?

He means if your GPU ever dies, then you have the iGPU to fall back on to figure things out with. If that's worth the $10 to you, that's your call. There's no performance difference between the two chips.

It's possible, but most companies will cover damaged parts on a per-case basis if there was a leak.

Once my GPU was working weirdly and my iGPU made it possible for me to keep working until I figured it out.

It's sufficient. Here's some data on the 212 black cooling an OCed 5930K (6c/12t). Now the black does do a little better than the LED (which does a little better than the EVO), so you can expect slight difference:

1476311094_aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmJlc3RvZm1pY3JvLmNvbS9JL0IvODE5NzMxL29yaWdpbmFsL2ltYWdlMDEzLnBuZw.jpg.c8aaf3e68d6c6a981231c4775d2ebc85.jpg

So ~91C at FULL load, while OCed. The 9600K will run cooler than that, being only 6c/6t, and it won't ever see those kind of temps on a gaming load. Prime95 AVX forces extremely high temps that you'd never see in any other scenario. So in gaming loads, I'd expect 65C-70C in more demanding games. That's just fine.

But the ML240L is only $20 more and it’s far better. Also, the 212 would need replacing if OP ever wanted a 9700k or 9900k.

Yay! I'll go ahead and mark this answer as the solution since I basically used your build and just changed the ram and cooler. and the tower because I was forced to. Daniel and Brob, thank you too. The 9600K over the kf was a good call I think.

Quick Sync is used for much more than rendering. It can improve streaming, transcoding, and other real time video processing performance.

Having an iGPU means that should the gpu ever fail one has a temporary backup. It also means that if one has to troubleshoot a system problem the discrete gpu can be easily eliminated.
