use avx stress testing for OCing?

Hello,

should i use programms to stress test the cpu which use AVX?

mainly because of temps, for example: when testing with avx im at 85C so i wont oc further, but when i test without avx and im at 70-75C i could still go further.

any suggestions?

Test what you use and know you have to adjust for AVX workloads if those aren't what you're testing on.

Also, which CPU?

AMD Ryzen 5800XFractal Design S36 360 AIO w/6 Corsair SP120L fans  |  Asus Crosshair VII WiFi X470  |  G.SKILL TridentZ 4400CL19 2x8GB @ 3800MHz 14-14-14-14-30  |  EVGA 3080 FTW3 Hybrid  |  Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe 500GB - Boot Drive  |  Samsung 850 EVO SSD 1TB - Game Drive  |  Seagate 1TB HDD - Media Drive  |  EVGA 650 G3 PSU | Thermaltake Core P3 Case

What program are you using? Realbench is a good blend of AVX and non-AVX tasks if you're looking for something that is lighter than Prime95 (since that's what most people think of when they want to stress AVX loads).

The Potato Box:

AMD 5950X

EVGA K|NGP|N 3090

128GB 3600 CL16 RAM

The Scrapyard Warrior:

AMD 3950x

EVGA FTW3 2080Ti

64GB 3200 CL16 RAM

Can't you set a separate AVX OC with an 8700K?

i think you mean the avx offset. i would love to use it but there is a well known problem with z370 boards and the avx offset triggering even when there is nothing running with avx.

it likes to change between the avx offset ratio and the oc ratio in games all the time.

i mostly game on my pc, i think i will use aida64 for stress testing, fpu:on means avx and fpu:off means non avx
