Go to solution Solved by mikeangeles 75,

If the stuttering in game is really that bad, then get the HDD. I would personally go for the mouse even if I have to wait 2 mins. for the map to load.

Hey everyone, this may seem like an odd question, but i would like some opinions.

I was short for cash after building my new setup, so have not yet got round to buying a new mouse, or a secondary hard drive. I currently have a crappy old mousepad, and a wireless logitech laptop mouse, and i struggle to aim since it is so small and light, and this bugs me when trying to play online FPS games, which i spend a lot of time on. I have around £60, and was thinking about upgrading my mouse to a corsair M65, and buying a new mousepad. The trouble is, i also have no storage space left. I am running a samsung 120GB SSD, and it is full. I have no secondary HDD as the money was short, so am running half my games off of my western digital 1TB passport external drive, which has loads of space, the only problem is slow load times over USB 3.0 which sometimes causes stuttering in game. So i guess my question is, would you recommend me get a new mouse first, and HDD later, or the other way round.

I know it may be an odd question, but i honestly don't know. I have never used a gaming mouse before so don't know if they are so important, or is it more important to have the extra internal storage and stick to my crappy mouse for a while longer. It's only because i play games that i feel a mouse would  be more important, and i already have some games on my SSD. It's just when i get round to buying BF4, i will need that extra storage...

Thanks in advance :)

Do the problems using an external hard drive bother you more than the problems from the mouse or does the mouse bother you more than the stuttering?

I think the mouse bother me more, as all my favourite games are on my SSD where this doesn't occur :) My mouse seems to lag though when i plug in my external HDD. Not sure if this is my mouse dying, or problems with the wireless :/

Thanks for the advice :) Do you know if the Corsair M65 is good? I'm not sure whether to spend that much on a mouse, seeming as i have never had a gaming one before. Is it really beneficial?

you could always take the hard drive out the external hard drive case and install it as an internal HDD  :D

Well, I personally use a Deathadder but I believe it's pretty good from the reviews I've seen, although kinda small I think. Never used one so I can't really give a recommendation.

It is labeled as a FPS mouse though.

HDD first....gaming mice are nice and truly better than normal but i've goten by with normal logitech mice just fine

Really? That's swayed me a bit now, i was about to say i had decided on the mouse first xD The mouse is a laptop mouse though, so it is REALLY small. This makes it really hard for me to aim  haha.

You could always buy a good budget mouser like the Sharkoon Fireglider Optical and then get the hard drive asap.

I would recommend it and it is £16.99

Nothing to see here - move along.

Using a friends tiny logitech mouse right now......i just tweek the sensitivity a bit to make it more comfortable, but its a matter of preference i value storage before asthetics and gaming peripherals though i will still buy them
