Sound delay through a av receiver

Hello all,

 

I am using my PC (FX 8350 :(, 1660, 16 GB ram), which outputs its HDMI throughout an av receiver (VSX 831), however when audio starts to play such as starting a youtube video there is a about a 3 second delay before sound starts to play, i have no idea what's wrong, doesn't happen on other signals.

 

Also, it is a surround sound receiver set to 5.1, however for some reason in windows sound it only recognises it as stereo and outputs only stereo.

To elaborate, it seems like it is not recognising the receiver to be surround, it says its stereo.
